Invitation to a Town Hall Meeting
The 905/GTA communities have long experienced an inequity in health and social services funding. The Places to Grow report prepared by the Provincial of Ontario recognizes that we are the fastest growing communities and the engine of growth for the province; however a funding formula for human services has not kept pace with our rapid growth. The United Ways of Durham, Halton, Peel and York together with the 905/GTA Health Alliance have joined to form the Strong Communities Coalition to advocate on behalf of the citizens of our communities. Some of the services that are impacted by the inequity include support for senior citizens, citizens with developmental and mental challenges, new Immigrants, children and youth, and access to health services in our own community.
